Or have you ever wasted weeks worrying about whethersomething bad might happen?
Ive spent many hoursworrying about people and circumstancesthat I had absolutely no control over.
And all that time worrying didnt do any good.
Verywell / Julie Bang
Of course, its hard to give up worrying about things we cant control.
Our brains want to dwell oncatastrophic outcomesor worst-case scenarios.
Its scary at first to acknowledge that you cant control something.
You cant force your parents to stop drinking.
And you cant force your partner to love you.
You cant make your kids get good grades.
you’re able to, however, control how you respond to those things.
it’s possible for you to influence people with praise and boundaries and by making your expectations clear.
And you’re free to work onmanaging your emotional responsewhen things dont turn out the way you want.
When you put your effort into the things you’re free to control, life gets better.
